Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ said: “I entered Paradise and saw a palace of gold. I asked: ‘Whose palace is this?’ They replied: ‘It belongs to a young man from the Quraysh.’ I thought it was for me, but they said: ‘It belongs to ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb.’”

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Ḥumayd said: Anas ibn Mālik was asked about the earnings of a cupper (ḥajjām). He replied: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ had cupping done, performed by Abū Ṭaybah. He ordered two ṣāʿ of barley for him, and spoke to his masters that they should reduce his [obligatory labour] levy. Then he said: “The best of the treatments you use are cupping and al-quṣṭ al-baḥrī (marine costus).”

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was standing among the clan serving them faḍīkh — a drink made of dates — when a man came and said: “Intoxicating drinks have been prohibited.” They said: “Pour it away, Anas!” So I poured it away. [Ḥumayd] said: I asked [Anas]: “What was their drink made of?” He replied: “Unripe and ripe dates mixed.” Abū Bakr, the son of Anas, said: “That was their intoxicating drink at the time” — and Anas was listening and did not deny it. Some of those present with us said: Anas said: “That was their intoxicating drink at that time.”

Musnad of Abū Ḥamzah Anas ibn Mālik al-Anṣārī, the Servant of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was serving Abū ʿUbaydah ibn al-Jarrāḥ, Ubayy ibn Kaʿb, Suhayl ibn Bayḍāʾ, and a group of the Prophet’s Companions at the house of Abū Ṭalḥah. I was serving them drinks until the drink had nearly taken its effect upon them, when a man from the Muslims came and said: “Have you not heard? Intoxicating drinks have been prohibited!” They did not say: “Let us first investigate and ask.” Rather, they said: “Pour away what is left in your jug, Anas!” He [Anas] said: “By Allah, they never returned to it — and their drink was nothing but ripe and unripe dates; that was their wine at the time.”

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ said: “Some people will enter the Hellfire, and when they have been reduced to charcoal they will be brought out and admitted into Paradise. The dwellers of Paradise will say of them: ‘These are al-Jahannamiyyūn (the people of the Fire).’“

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The call to prayer was announced. Those whose houses were near the mosque went home [to perform ablution], while those whose houses were far away remained [where they were]. A stone basin was brought to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ, but it was too small for him to spread his full hand in it, so he brought his fingers together [into the basin]. Then all the remaining men performed their ablution [from that water]. Ḥumayd said: Anas was asked how many they were, and he replied, “Eighty or more.”

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The [clan of] Banū Salamah intended to relocate from their houses and settle near the mosque. News of this reached the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ and he disliked the idea of the outskirts of Madinah being left deserted, so he said to them: “O Banū Salamah, do you not expect reward from Allah for every step you take to the mosque?” They said, “Yes indeed, O Messenger of Allah.” So they remained where they were.

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The iqāmah was called, and a man came running to join [the congregation] but arrived out of breath. When he reached the row he said: “Al-ḥamdu lillāhi ḥamdan kathīran ṭayyiban mubārakan fīh All praise is due to Allah, abundant, pure, and blessed praise.” After the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ completed the prayer, he asked, “Which one of you said those words?” The people remained silent, so he asked again: “Which one of you said them? For what he said was good; he said nothing wrong.” The man replied, “O Messenger of Allah, I hurried here and was out of breath when I reached the row, so I said what I said.” The Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ said, “I saw twelve angels competing to see which of them would carry those words up [to Allah].” Then he said: “When any of you comes to prayer, let him walk at a calm pace; let him pray whatever [rakʿahs] he catches [with the imam] and make up what he has missed.”

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ وَسَهْلُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْمَعْنَى عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَى فَانْتَهَى وَقَدْ حَفَزَهُ النَّفَسُ فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى إِلَى الصَّفِّ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ فَلَمَّا قَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاتَهُ قَالَ أَيُّكُمُ الْمُتَكَلِّمُ فَسَكَتَ الْقَوْمُ فَقَالَ أَيُّكُمُ الْمُتَكَلِّمُ فَإِنَّهُ قَالَ خَيْرًا وَلَمْ يَقُلْ بَأْسًا قَالَ الرَّجُلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنَا أَسْرَعْتُ الْمَشْيَ فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى الصَّفِّ فَقُلْتُ الَّذِي قُلْتُ قَالَ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ مَلَكًا يَبْتَدِرُونَهَا أَيُّهُمْ يَرْفَعُهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَلْيَمْشِ عَلَى هِينَتِهِ فَلْيُصَلِّ مَا أَدْرَكَ وَلْيَقْضِ مَا سُبِقَهُ

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ saw a man being supported between his two sons as he walked. He asked, “What is the matter with this man?” They replied, “He has vowed to walk [to the Kaʿbah on foot].” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ said, “Allah has absolutely no need for this man to torment himself.” Then he commanded him to ride, and he did.

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: There was a man named Anjashah who was driving the camels bearing the Mothers of the Believers. He drove them at a fast pace, so the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ called out to him: “Easy, Anjashah, drive gently with the glass vessels.”

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَجُلٌ يَسُوقُ بِأُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَنْجَشَةُ فَاشْتَدَّ فِي السِّيَاقَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا أَنْجَشَةُ رُوَيْدَكَ سَوْقًا بِالْقَوَارِيرِ
Musnad of Abū Ḥamzah Anas ibn Mālik al-Anṣārī, the Servant of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Some men from the tribe of ʿUraynah embraced Islam but became ill, as the climate of Madinah did not suit them. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ said to them, “Would you not go out to our herd of camels and drink their milk?” Ḥumayd added that Qatādah's version from Anas includes: “and their urine.” So they did. Once they had recovered, however, they apostatized, killed the believing herdsman of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ, and drove off the Prophet's ﷺ camels before fleeing. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ dispatched men in pursuit of them; they were caught and brought back. He then ordered their hands and feet to be cut off and their eyes to be gouged out, and they were left in al-Ḥarrah until they died.

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ أَسْلَمَ نَاسٌ مِنْ عُرَيْنَةَ فَاجْتَوَوُا الْمَدِينَةَ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ خَرَجْتُمْ إِلَى ذَوْدٍ لَنَا فَشَرِبْتُمْ مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا قَالَ حُمَيْدٌ وَقَالَ قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ وَأَبْوَالِهَا فَفَعَلُوا فَلَمَّا صَحُّوا كَفَرُوا بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِمْ وَقَتَلُوا رَاعِيَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُؤْمِنًا وَسَاقُوا ذَوْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهَرَبُوا فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي آثَارِهِمْ فَأُخِذُوا فَقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ وَأَرْجُلَهُمْ وَسَمَرَ أَعْيُنَهُمْ وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِي الْحَرَّةِ حَتَّى مَاتُوا

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ said: “Ask me about anything [that will occur between now and] the Day of Resurrection, I will inform you of it.” ʿAbdullāh ibn Ḥudhāfah stood and said, “O Messenger of Allah, who is my father?” He replied, “Your father is Ḥudhāfah.” When his mother later reproached him, he said, “I only wanted to be at ease,” for there had been talk about [the legitimacy of his parentage]. Ḥumayd added: “I believe this last part was narrated from Anas.” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ became angry, whereupon ʿUmar said: “We are pleased with Allah as our Lord, with Islam as our religion, and with Muḥammad ﷺ as our Prophet. We seek refuge in Allah from the wrath of Allah and the wrath of His Messenger.”

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَسْأَلُونِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ إِلَّا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ فَقَامَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ حُذَافَةَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَنْ أَبِي قَالَ أَبُوكَ حُذَافَةُ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّهُ مَا أَرَدْتَ إِلَى هَذَا قَالَ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَسْتَرِيحَ وَكَانَ يُقَالُ فِيهِ قَالَ حُمَيْدٌ وَأَحْسَبُ هَذَا عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ فَغَضِبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِينَا بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَبِيًّا نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ غَضَبِ اللَّهِ وَغَضَبِ رَسُولِهِ
Musnad of Abū Ḥamzah Anas ibn Mālik al-Anṣārī, the Servant of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ said: “The best of what you may use for treatment is cupping and marine costus, and do not torment your children by pressing [the back of] their throats with your fingers.”

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ said: “[During the Isrāʾ] I entered Paradise and found myself before a golden palace. I asked, ‘Whose palace is this?’ They replied, ‘It belongs to a young man from the Quraysh.’ I asked, ‘Who is he?’ They said, ‘ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb.’” He then turned to ʿUmar and said: “Were it not for the jealousy I know you have, I would have entered it.” ʿUmar said, “Would I feel jealous on your account, O Messenger of Allah?”

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ said: “Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him; and whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah hates to meet him.” We said, “O Messenger of Allah, all of us dislike death.” He replied, “That is not what is meant by hating to meet Allah. Rather, when the believer is near death a glad tiding comes to him from Allah of what he is about to receive, and there is nothing then more beloved to him than having met Allah, so Allah loves to meet him. But when the sinner or the disbeliever is near death, tidings come to him of the evil that awaits him, and he hates to meet Allah, so Allah hates to meet him.”

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ وَمَنْ كَرِهَ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ كَرِهَ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كُلُّنَا نَكْرَهُ الْمَوْتَ قَالَ لَيْسَ ذَاكَ كَرَاهِيَةَ الْمَوْتِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ إِذَا حُضِرَ جَاءَهُ الْبَشِيرُ مِنَ اللَّهِ بِمَا هُوَ صَائِرٌ إِلَيْهِ فَلَيْسَ شَيْءٌ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدْ لَقِيَ اللَّهَ فَأَحَبَّ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ وَإِنَّ الْفَاجِرَ أَوِ الْكَافِرَ إِذَا حُضِرَ جَاءَهُ بِمَا هُوَ صَائِرٌ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الشَّرِّ فَكَرِهَ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ وَكَرِهَ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ
