DeenRoot

Terms of Service

Last updated: August 9, 2026

1. Who we are, and what these terms cover

DeenRoot ("DeenRoot," "we," "us") is an independent, individually operated platform — not a registered company or non-profit — providing free access to the Quran, Hadith, prayer-direction (Qibla) tools, and an AI assistant for Islamic questions. These Terms govern your use of deenroot.com and any related apps. By using DeenRoot, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

2. Core content is free — never paywalled

The Quran and Hadith text, translations, tafsir, recitation audio, Qibla direction, and the AI assistant's baseline usage are free to use for everyone, with or without an account, and stay that way regardless of whether you ever pay us anything. The DeenRoot Supporter membership and one-time purchase described in Section 6 fund hosting and development and come with a small set of peripheral digital perks (a supporter badge, and for active members a higher AI-assistant usage limit and early feature access) — but never gate or restrict core content itself.

3. Accounts

An account (email + password) is only required for features tied to your personal data — bookmarks, notes, highlights, reading/learning progress, assistant conversation history, and monthly support. You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information when registering.

DeenRoot is intended for general audiences. If you are under the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction (commonly 13, sometimes higher), please only create an account with a parent or guardian's involvement. We don't knowingly collect account data from young children — see the Privacy Policy's Children's Privacy section.

4. The AI assistant is not a religious ruling

The AI assistant answers Islamic questions using retrieval over the Quran, tafsir, and reviewed articles on this site, generated by a third-party AI model. It is a study aid, not a scholar or a muftī. It does not issue fatwas — requests seeking a formal religious ruling are flagged and redirected toward consulting a qualified scholar. Always verify anything consequential with a knowledgeable, qualified source before acting on it. Your questions and the assistant's answers are stored on your account and may be reviewed by us for quality, safety, and abuse prevention (see the Privacy Policy) — don't include sensitive personal information in a question you wouldn't want reviewed.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract content from the site outside normal use;
  • Attempt to bypass rate limits, security controls, or access controls;
  • Use the AI assistant to generate content designed to mislead, harass, or misrepresent Islamic teaching;
  • Upload or submit unlawful, defamatory, or infringing content in notes, highlights, or assistant messages;
  • Interfere with the operation of the service for other users.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our discretion, with or without notice.

6. DeenRoot Supporter — what you're buying

The /support page sells the DeenRoot Supporter digital product, as a recurring monthly membership or a one-time purchase — a real digital product, not a donation. It comes with a small set of digital entitlements (see Section 2 of the Privacy Policy and the perks listed on /support — currently a supporter badge, and for the active recurring membership a higher AI-assistant usage limit and early access to new features). DeenRoot is not a registered charity or non-profit; buying DeenRoot Supporter is not a charitable donation, isn't tax-deductible, and we don't issue tax/donation receipts.

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited, acting as our merchant of record. Paddle handles your payment details, applicable sales tax/VAT, and receipts — we never see or store your card details. The recurring membership renews automatically until you cancel; you can cancel anytime from your account settings, effective at the end of the current billing period (see Section 7, Refunds, below). Paddle's own terms also apply to the checkout process.

7. Refunds and cancellation

Canceling the recurring membership stops future billing but doesn't refund the current billing period — you keep the membership's perks until it ends, per Section 6.

One-time purchases are generally final, since the supporter badge is granted immediately. If a charge was made in error (e.g. a duplicate or unauthorized transaction), contact info@deenroot.com within 14 days and we'll review it — refunds are issued at our discretion through Paddle, your payment processor and merchant of record.

8. Your content

Notes, highlights, bookmarks, quiz answers, and assistant messages you create remain yours. By submitting them, you grant us a license to store, process, and display them back to you as part of operating the service (and, for assistant messages, to review them for the safety/quality purposes described above). We don't sell your content or use it to train third-party models beyond what's described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Content accuracy

We treat scripture as immutable — once Quranic text is stored, it is never silently overwritten. Quran, Hadith, translation, tafsir, and recitation content is sourced from established providers (Quran Foundation, Sunnah.com, AlQuran Cloud) and reviewed content on this site goes through an editorial approval process. Even so, we make no guarantee that every translation, tafsir note, or AI-generated answer is free of error — treat the site as a study tool, and consult qualified scholars for anything consequential.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

DeenRoot is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. To the fullest extent permitted by law, DeenRoot and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, where DeenRoot is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles — except where mandatory consumer-protection or data-protection law in your own country gives you rights these terms can't override.
