Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Umm Sulaym sent me with a basket of fresh dates to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ, but I did not find him at home. He had recently gone to a freed slave of his who had invited him and prepared food for him. I went to him and found him eating; he invited me to eat with him. [The freed slave] had made tharīd for him with meat and gourd, and [I noticed] the Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ was particularly delighted by the gourd, so I began to gather pieces of it and place them near him. When he had finished eating he returned to his home, and I placed the basket of dates before him. He proceeded to eat from them and distribute them [to those present] until the last of them was finished.

Afterward he supplicated for Umm Sulaym and her household with every good. Umm Sulaym said, “O Messenger of Allah, I have a small private request.” He said, “What is it?” She said, “Your servant Anas.” Anas reported: He left no good of the hereafter or of this world without supplicating to Allah to grant it to me, saying: “O Allah, grant him wealth and children, and bless him therein.” “So there was no one among the Anṣār wealthier than I.” He [Anas] also mentioned that he did not possess any gold or silver apart from his ring. He also mentioned that his eldest daughter Umaynah informed him that more than one hundred and twenty of his direct descendants had been buried by the time al-Ḥajjāj arrived in Baṣrah.

Musnad of Abū Ḥamzah Anas ibn Mālik al-Anṣārī, the Servant of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ upon his arrival in Madinah and said: “O Messenger of Allah, I will ask you about three things that only a prophet can know.” He said, “Ask.” He said: “What is the first sign of the Hour? What is the first food that the people of Paradise will eat? And how does a child come to resemble either its father or its mother?” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ replied: “Jibrīl just now informed me of these.” ʿAbdullāh said, “That one, he is the enemy of the Jews among the angels.” The Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ then said: “As for the first sign of the Hour, it is a fire that will emerge from the east and drive people toward the west. As for the first food the people of Paradise will eat, it is the additional lobe of a fish's liver. And as for the child's resemblance to one parent or another: if the man's fluid precedes the woman's, the child resembles him; and if the woman's fluid precedes the man's, the child resembles her.” ʿAbdullāh said, “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that you are the Messenger of Allah.” He then said: “O Messenger of Allah, the Jews are a people given to slander. If they hear of my conversion, they will slander me before you. So send for them and ask them about me first.” He sent for them and asked: “What manner of man is ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām among you?” They said: “He is the best of us and the son of the best of us; our scholar and the son of our scholars; the most learned of us and the son of the most learned.” He said: “What if he were to embrace Islam, would you follow?” They said: “May Allah protect him from that!” Then ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām came out and declared: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allah.” They said: “He is the worst of us and the son of the worst; the most ignorant of us and the son of the most ignorant.” ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām said: “This is exactly what I feared from you.”

Musnad of Abū Ḥamzah Anas ibn Mālik al-Anṣārī, the Servant of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “The Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ arrived [in Madinah] when I was ten years old, and he died when I was twenty. My mothers used to urge me to serve him. He came in to visit us, and we milked a domesticated sheep for him; the milk was then mixed with water from the well in the house. A Bedouin was to his right, Abū Bakr to his left, and ʿUmar to one side. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ drank. ʿUmar said, ‘Give it to Abū Bakr.’ But he passed the vessel to the Bedouin and said: ‘The one on the right first, then the one on the right.’”
