Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Ḥumayd said: Anas was asked whether the Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ used to raise his hands [in supplication]. He replied: “On a Friday, someone said to him [during the sermon]: ‘O Messenger of Allah, the rains have stopped, the land has dried up, and the livestock are perishing.’ He raised his hands until I could see the whiteness of his armpits, and prayed for rain. At that moment there was not a single cloud in the sky. Yet by the time we had finished the [Friday] prayer, the rain was so heavy that even a young man whose home was nearby found it difficult to get back to his family. The following Friday, people said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, our houses have been ruined and the travelers are stranded.’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ smiled at how quickly the son of Adam grows weary, and said: ‘O Allah, let it rain around us and not upon us.’ And the clouds dispersed from above Madīnah.”

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I invited the Muslims to the wedding feast of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ on the morning he consummated his marriage with Zaynab bint Jaḥsh. He fed the Muslims bread and meat until they were satisfied. He then went around to the apartments of his wives as he used to do, greeted them, and they prayed [for blessings] upon him. He then returned home and I was with him. When he reached the house, there were two men engaged in conversation in a corner of the room. When he saw them he turned and left. When the two men saw that the Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ had left, they hastily got up and departed. I do not know whether I informed him or whether he was told by someone else; he returned to his house, lowered the curtain between himself and me, and then the verse of ḥijāb was revealed.

Musnad of Abū Ḥamzah Anas ibn Mālik al-Anṣārī, the Servant of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A son of Abū Ṭalḥah fell ill. Abū Ṭalḥah went out to the mosque, and the boy passed away. Umm Sulaym prepared the deceased child and said to her household: “Do not let any of you tell Abū Ṭalḥah that his son has died.” He returned home with some companions from the mosque and asked: “How is the boy?” She replied: “Better than he has ever been.” She served them their supper, they ate, and the guests departed. When the last part of the night came, she said: “Abū Ṭalḥah, have you not noticed the family of so-and-so — they borrowed something, enjoyed it, and when asked to return it, they seemed reluctant?” He said: “They were not fair.” She said: “Your son was a trust from Allah ﷻ, and Allah has taken him back.” He recited innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn and praised Allah.
In the morning he went to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ, and when [the Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ] saw him he said: “May Allah bless the two of you in your night.” She conceived ʿAbdullāh and gave birth to him at night, and she was reluctant to perform taḥneek herself, wishing the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ to do it. Anas said: So I carried him in the early morning along with some ʿajwah dates and found [the Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ] branding some of his camels. I said: “O Messenger of Allah, Umm Sulaym has given birth last night and wishes the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ to perform taḥneek on him.” He said: “Do you have anything with you?” I replied: “Some ʿajwah dates.” He took some of them, chewed them, then gathered his blessed saliva and placed it in the infant’s mouth, and the child began to smack his lips. The Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ said: “The Anṣār love dates.” I said: “O Messenger of Allah, name him.” He said: “His name is ʿAbdullāh.”

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: On the day of Uḥud the Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ had his forehead wounded, his front lower tooth broken, and was struck upon both shoulders. Blood was streaming down his face and he was wiping it away while saying: “How can a people ever succeed who have done this to their Prophet as he calls them to Allah?” Thereupon Allah revealed: ﴾It is not for you [O Muḥammad] to decide — whether He turns to them in mercy or punishes them, for they are indeed wrongdoers﴿ [Āl ʿImrān 3:128].
